Carat Weight

CLARITY (1)_edited.png

Carat weight is the simplest and most objective of a diamond’s 4Cs to measure. Using a precisely calibrated digital scale, even the smallest weights are accurately determined. This precision ensures consistency and reliability when assessing a diamond’s weight.

Here are some important considerations about a diamond’s carat weight and its impact on value:

Carat Weight vs. Value: Comparing diamond value based solely on carat weight is akin to comparing paintings by their size. A larger canvas by an unskilled artist cannot rival the worth of a small masterpiece. Similarly, while larger diamonds are rarer and generally more valuable, their price increase is not proportional to the size increase.
Exponential Price Increase: As carat weight increases, so does rarity, and with it, value. For instance, a 1-carat diamond will often cost more than double the price of a ½-carat diamond, assuming the same Cut, Color, and Clarity grades.
Weight vs. Quality: Carat weight alone does not determine a diamond’s value. Two diamonds of identical weight may differ significantly in value based on other critical factors such as Cut, Color, and Clarity. Moreover, a diamond with improper proportions may appear heavier but lack brilliance, meaning additional weight could diminish its overall appeal.

Understanding the relationship between carat weight and other quality factors is essential when selecting a diamond. A well-balanced approach ensures that the diamond's size, brilliance, and beauty are in harmony, offering the best value and visual appeal.
